Stereotypical feminism left so many of us out in the cold! I resonate with what you say about not being interested in seeing the movie, Dana. Not just that... For me, the elephant in the room is that, having made millions off teaching young girls to be dissatisfied with our bodies, the Barbie empire has now come back for the money to be made off "liberating" the oppressive symbol they created. So we pay them twice and cry sentimentally over all we've been through together?? Look who's laughing all the way to the bank.

Thank you, Dana, for the "review" of Feminism 2023. I hated Barbie as a child because she represented the wealthy kids in my neighborhood of which I was excluded. She also embodied all the negatives that came with being poor, fat and not interested in dressing up in fashionable clothes (which we couldn't afford). Barbie also did not represent the women in my life. I remember crying as a child that the black girls didn't have black dolls (1950s) and Barbie just made it more obvious then. And I can not get started about how women are still objects of admiration IF they look like Barbie. Thanks again!

Really interesting piece, thank you. I had the exact same moment of recognising what was making (yt) women cry while feeling no urge to cry myself. I enjoyed the movie but I think people are making it more than what it really is.

I agree, it’s a movie. Not a movement.
